Аква Віта (Aqua Vita — Latin for “living water”) is a Ukrainian eurodance/pop act founded in 1993 by nineteen-year-old Ihor Balan from Mala Vyska (childhood in Smoline, Kirovohrad region). After music college (bayan) and brief rock bands “Galactic News” / “Vakula’s Band,” he brought the project onstage at Kirovohrad City Day on 19 September 1993 with Natalia Luchnikova. The debut album “Несказані слова” set euro-rhythms to poems by Lorca, Franko, Oles, Kostenko, Verlaine, Symonenko — rare for a mid-’90s dance floor. Before the Chervona Ruta ’95 final Luchnikova left; within two weeks Irina Filatova arrived, auditioning with Sam Brown’s “Stop.” That duo won festival recognition, all-Ukraine fame, and a deal with the Territory A agency.
Personal and stage lives stayed knotted. Peak came with “А тепер усе інакше” (1997) — about a million copies and hits “А тепер усе інакше,” “Хмари розтануть,” “Поплач,” “Поле азарту,” after earlier “Женьмінь жібао” and “Бринить печаль” from “Технотронутий.” The band fronted Myrhorodska water ads, played live with guitarist Oleh Makarevych and dancers, and shot Territory A-era clips. In 1999 they split from the agency for the more adult “Тільки ти”; in 2000 came the all-Russian “Новая игра” and the end of Balan/Filatova. Then solo “Вьюга” (2002), a pause, a 2011 revival with Olena Titarenko, and “Чтобы никогда…” (2013). Half a year before the full-scale war Ihor lived through family hell: elder daughter Yana died of cancer at 34 after years of unclear diagnoses and a final rapid decline.

From 2023 his younger daughter Alisa Balan shares the mic — after charity shows for the Armed Forces and after Titarenko left. It is not only a family brand: Alisa refreshes the hits while Ihor brings arranging craft he once built on two Mayak cassette decks. With EL Kravchuk they reworked “Вогонь”; the set mixes remade ’90s classics with newer “Птахи,” “Бринить печаль,” “Розмаїття мереж.” In 2026 the album “Мов кіно” arrives — title track, “А тепер усе інакше (Restart),” “Технотронутий Version 2026,” and “Вега” with Viktor Pavlik — as if the band is reediting its own film.
