TATITERA — Жениться хорошо, да много и досады
Marriage is fine, but it brings much vexation. I won't say a word about women's attire: On one who is dear, dress always looks pleasant; Though true that with it the purse isn't solid.
Worst of all are contrary advice, Stubborn words and quarrelsome replies. A peasant lately gave us an example, Whose wife was taken by fate in the water.
Coming to the bank, he saw a neighbor there: Had he noticed any trace of the drowned woman, he asked. The neighbor advised going down along the shore: The current should have carried her that way.
But he answered: «Brother, I confess, That all her life she lived with me contrary; So truly now I do not doubt at all That, having drowned, she swam against the river».
