TATITERA — Про жизнь
For many years I pondered earthly life. Nothing under the moon is unclear to me. I know that I know nothing! — That is the last truth I have found.
How long must I bend my back, or not, Will I soon be fated to rest, or not — Why sigh about it, if even while sighing I don't know: will I manage to take a breath, or not?
If the good were strong and the wicked weak — We wouldn't furrow our brows with heavy thoughts! If justice were the law of the world — We wouldn't grumble at the fickleness of fate.
All that delights our eyes in the world — is nothing. All our striving and disputes — nothing. All the peaks of Earth, all the expanses — nothing. All that we drag into our burrows — nothing.
Do not mourn, mortal, yesterday's losses, Do not measure today's deeds by tomorrow's measure, Trust neither the past nor the coming minute, Trust the present minute — be happy now!
